Personal

Christy was born in Fargo, ND and her family moved to Laurel, Montana when she was in the first grade. She attended school in Laurel and moved to Bozeman in 1991 to attend college at Montana State University where she got her degree in Communications.  Aside from a three-year stint in San Diego for graduate school at SDSU, she has been living in the Bozeman area for many years.

Some of Christy's favorite hobbies are to spending time in the outdoors including mountain biking and hiking as well as walking her dogs, Auggie and Nona.  In the winter she enjoys cross country skiing.  Christy loves to read and cook and loves learning about wine.  She and her husband Greg enjoy golfing and riding his Harley as well as spending time with family and friends.  Christy has two step-children, Jonah and Delaney.

After her diagnosis with breast cancer in 2012, Christy  has become involved with many cancer related non-profits.  She currently sits on the board of directors for The Bozeman 3, www.thebozeman3.org, which provides financial support and mentorship for local families whose children are facing cancer.  During her cancer treatment, she received many support services from the Cancer Support Community, www.cancersupportmontana.org, and now gives back to this organization by volunteering as well as providing financial support.  She and her family have participated in the Relay for Life as well as the Race for the Cure.

Prior to going through chemotherapy, she worked closely with Bozeman Deaconess Hospital and The Rapunzel Project, www.rapunzelproject.org, to coordinate the donation of a scientific freezer to house cold caps that allow chemotherapy patients to keep their hair during treatment.  She was able to use the caps successfully during her treatment and has now coached several other cancer patients through the same process.

Christy's health challenges have helped her experience Northwestern Mutual from two different sides, both as a Representative of the company, as well as being a client on disability claim.  She believes that sharing her challenges helps her build even deeper relationships with her clients.
